Our Client is a locally based family office, and a need has arisen to hire a seasoned finance professional to work directly under the Chairman in looking after the family office's financials.
The Finance Director will direct the financial operations, cross-border asset holding structures, and strategic wealth preservation plans for a high-net-worth family. This leader serves as the financial steward of the family office, ensuring total asset protection, multi-generational tax efficiency, transparent consolidated reporting, and seamless alignment with the family's long-term goals.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management and Reporting
- Oversee consolidated global financial statements, cash flow forecasting, and net worth dashboards encompassing multi-asset classes.
- Manage liquidity, banking relationships, credit facilities, and treasury operations across Hong Kong, Mainland China, and international jurisdictions.
- Establish robust internal controls, governance frameworks, and operational risk mitigation policies.
Investment Support and Strategy
- Partner with internal investment teams and external asset managers to evaluate private equity, venture capital, real estate, and public market performance.
- Review legal documentation, subscription/distribution notices, and capital call schedules for alternative investments.
- Model tax and cash flow implications for new deal pipelines and strategic acquisitions.
Regulatory, Tax, and Estate Compliance
- Navigate Hong Kong tax frameworks, offshore structures, and international tax reporting (e.g., CRS, FATCA).
- Coordinate cross-border estate planning, trust administrations, and philanthropic/foundation setups with external legal and tax advisors.
- Ensure any local regulatory alignments or licensing considerations (such as SFC guidelines where applicable) are met.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Minimum 15 to 20 years of progressive finance leadership experience gained within top-tier accounting firms (Big 4), private equity, corporate banking, or established family offices.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration.
- Professional accounting qualification such as CPA (HKICPA, AICPA or equivalent) or CFA charter holder.
Skills and Competencies
- Exceptional fluency in English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) to communicate effectively with regional stakeholders, banking partners, and family members.
