Job summary

Vortex Search is seeking a high-impact Financial Controller to build and lead a global finance function for a Series A semiconductor startup. You will oversee data integrity across multi-country operations, drive reporting excellence, and support rapid scaling while working from home with 2–4 days remote.

The role requires 5+ years in accounting or financial control, experience with multi-currency books and cross-border tax rules, and CPA/CA or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Global Accounting: Manage Client’s bookkeeper, who provides day-to-day bookkeeping and payment processing.
• Financial Reporting: Close monthly, quarterly, and yearly books on time.
• Tax and Compliance: Follow local tax laws and filing rules in each country. Work with international tax and accounting consultants and law firms to ensure compliance and optimization.
• Accounts and Accounting: Ensure multi-country reporting compliance including Group consolidation.
• Payroll and Entities: Support payroll systems needs.
• Cash Flow Management: Track cash burn, manage bank accounts, and forecast cash flow.
• Internal Reporting: Provide management with regular reports for Board Meetings and investor presentations.
• Audit Prep: Work with external auditors for clean yearly reviews.
• Process Scaling: Build automated financial tools and scalable accounting workflows.

Our Client is seeking a high-impact Financial Controller to join a rapidly growing, high-potential, Series A semiconductor startup. This is a pivotal role for an ambitious finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is excited by the challenge of building a global finance function from the ground up. You will oversee the integrity of our financial data across multi-country operations, ensuring compliance, driving reporting excellence, and supporting our global scaling efforts.

Job Overview

• Company Stage: Series A Startup
• Scope: Multi-country operations
• Work Life: Work from Home, 2 to 4 days per week
• Location: Global (preferably in Asia or Australia)
• Reports to: President [or CEO]
• Remuneration: Mix of cash and stock

Key Responsibilities

• Global Accounting: Manage Client’s bookkeeper, who provides day-to-day bookkeeping and payment processing.
• Financial Reporting: Close monthly, quarterly, and yearly books on time.
• Tax and Compliance: Follow local tax laws and filing rules in each country. Work with the Company’s international tax and accounting consultant(s) and law firm(s) to ensure compliance and optimization.
• Accounts and Accounting: Work with the Company’s international tax and accounting consultant(s) and law firm(s) to ensure multi-country reporting compliance including Group consolidation.
• Payroll and Entities: Support bookkeeper’s internal and external payroll systems needs.
• Cash Flow Management: Track cash burn, manage bank accounts, and handle cash flow forecasts.
• Internal Reporting: Provide management with regular reports, including data and charts for Board Meetings, investor presentations, etc.
• Audit Prep: Work with external auditors for clean yearly financial reviews.
• Process Scaling: Build automated financial tools and scalable accounting workflows.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Experience: 5+ years in accounting or financial control.
• Startup Background Preferred: Experience in a fast-paced tech startup or VC-backed firm. Experience working remotely, promptly communicating and handling tasks and taking/conducting meetings with international team members in off-hours as necessary.
• Global Knowledge: Hands-on skill with multi-currency books and cross-border tax rules.
• Certifications: CPA, CA, or equivalent professional finance degree.
• Tech Skills: Expert user of modern Financial Software tools (including QuickBooks), global payroll platforms (like Remote or Deel) and Google Workspace Applications (to replace all Microsoft Office Applications).
