Job summary

Fangyuan Financial (Hong Kong) Limited in Hong Kong seeks a Trading Assistant to execute and support equity and derivatives trading aligned with portfolio strategies. You will work with Portfolio Managers, researchers, and brokers to implement decisions, rebalance, hedge, and manage risk in a fast-paced market.

The role emphasizes data handling, Python scripting basics, Excel proficiency, and strong written and spoken English and Mandarin. Cantonese helpful; 5-day week and training provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, CS, Finance, Business, or related field.
• 1–2 years of trading experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Excel required; familiarity with LLM platforms and practical prompt engineering.
• Basic Python scripting for file processing and API tasks.
• Strong data processing: cleaning, standardizing unstructured data.
• Excellent English and Mandarin; Cantonese a plus; detail-oriented in a fast-paced environment.

Job description

1. Execute trades across equities, equity derivatives (options, futures, swaps), and convertible bonds in accordance with portfolio strategies and investment objectives.

2. Partner closely with Portfolio Managers and Research teams to implement investment decisions, portfolio rebalancing, hedging activities, and risk-management transactions.

3. Monitor market conditions, news, corporate events, liquidity, and pricing dynamics to identify trading opportunities and optimize execution quality.

4. Manage trading risks and ensure compliance with internal policies, investment guidelines, and regulatory requirements while maintaining strong controls over trade execution.

5. Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and counterparties, evaluate execution performance, provide market intelligence to investment teams, and ensure accurate trade capture, reporting, and settlement coordination.

Requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Finance, Business or related field from a top-tier university;

2. 1-2 years of trading experience is preferred;

3. Proficiency in Excel is expected. Proficient in at least one major large language model (LLM) platform, such as ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot, or Gemini, with practical prompt engineering skills.

4. Basic proficiency in Python programming, with the ability to write simple scripts for file processing and API integration.

5. Strong foundational data processing skills, capable of independently cleaning, standardizing, and organizing unstructured data from various business documents. Prior experience participating in enterprise AI knowledge base projects or related initiatives is a plus.

6. Excellent written and spoken English and Mandarin; proficiency in Cantonese is a plus; Strong sense of responsibility, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
