Job summary

Arup is looking for a skilled Engineer/Consultant in Hong Kong to lead and support climate and sustainability projects. Candidates should have a degree in Mechanical Engineering and relevant experience in green building certifications like BEAM Plus or LEED.

This role offers the chance to tackle diverse challenges while contributing to innovative building designs. Proficiency in English and Chinese is required. Join us to make a meaningful impact on society and the environment.

The Opportunity
Responsibilities
  • Lead or support projects execution across the climate & sustainability spectrum — from building scale to infrastructure and organizational level
  • Deliver green building certification (e.g. BEAM Plus, LEED, WELL) alongside environmental sustainability design (ESD).
  • Provide technical input and design interventions using ESD knowledge and suitable simulation tools
  • Develop sustainable and innovative building designs with MEP Engineering Knowledge
  • Tackle non-standard challenges from first principles, with strong problem-solving and critical thinking

Qualifications And Experiences Required
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Energy or related discipline
  • Chartership with relevant professional institutions is preferred
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience for Assistant Engineer/ Consultant and 6 years of relevant experience for Engineer / Consultant
  • Experience in green building certification (e.g. BEAM Plus, LEED, WELL)
  • Experience in carbon emissions assessment (e.g. GHG Protocol, SBTi)
  • Experience in ESD, Air Ventilation Assessment and performance simulation (e.g. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Energy Model, Rhino / Grasshopper).
  • Strong analytical skills; coding/data analysis is an advantage
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese
  • Be adaptable and able to work independently coupled with strong interpersonal skills
