Job summary

The Head of Chinese Dance will provide pedagogic, creative and artistic leadership across all levels and courses in Chinese Dance at HKAPA. Responsibilities include curriculum development and selection of repertoire for public performances and tours.

Qualifications

• Advanced academic qualifications in Chinese Dance or Dance Education (or equivalent).
• Minimum eight years’ teaching experience in Chinese Dance at university/master’s level.
• Substantial academic leadership/administration experience in Chinese Dance or related field.
• A distinguished profile in Chinese Dance as performer/choreographer/educator/director.
• Strong knowledge of Chinese Dance pedagogy, technique, repertoire and contemporary developments.
• Excellent organizational, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to work in a multicultural environment.
• Excellent command of spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

• Provide pedagogic, creative and artistic leadership across all Chinese Dance levels and courses.
• Develop and oversee curriculum for Chinese Dance programmes and repertoire for public performances and tours.
• Serve on the School’s Management Committee and lead the Chinese Dance department.
• Shape strategic direction of Chinese Dance within the School and contribute to the academy’s priorities.
• Foster connections with the professional dance community locally, regionally and internationally.
