Job summary

Aquis Search is assisting a Hong Kong-based asset management firm seeking an experienced Deputy COO to support senior management across operations, risk, governance and compliance. The role emphasizes risk oversight, regulatory reporting and robust internal controls within a hedge fund environment.

The candidate should have 12–15 years in asset management, SFC Type 4/9 RO experience, and strong stakeholder management to partner with senior management and external service providers.

Qualifications

• 12–15 years of experience in asset management or hedge funds.
• SFC Type 4 and Type 9 Responsible Officer experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of risk management, VaR, fund operations, FRR.
• Solid understanding of Hong Kong regulatory framework, especially SFC requirements.
• Proven governance, internal controls and operational risk management experience.
• Experience leading an operations function and working with senior management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee risk management frameworks, including market risk and VaR monitoring.
• Supervise fund operations, back-office functions, finance, FRR and regulatory reporting.
• Strengthen corporate governance and internal controls across operations.
• Review portfolio risks and risk management practices with the investment team.
• Manage relationships with fund administrators, auditors and external advisers.
• Support regulatory matters and liaise with the SFC.
