Job summary

Yun Lee Marine Holdings Limited seeks a Deckhand to join a 100ft+ private motor yacht based in Hong Kong. You will support exterior maintenance, guest services, and deck operations under the Captain's supervision, with a rotation schedule and live-aboard requirement.

Candidates must hold HK Pleasure Vessel Operator Grade 2, STCW Basic Safety Training, strong swimming, and fluent English. Preference for yacht experience 30m+ in HK/Asia waters and other safety certificates.

Qualifications

• Hong Kong Pleasure Vessel Operator Grade 2 Certificate or recognised equivalent.
• STCW Basic Safety Training certificate (or equivalent recognised under STCW).
• Strong swimming ability.
• Excellent spoken and written English, with ability to follow instructions and log reports.
• Willingness to live on board and rotate schedule with extended periods away from home.
• Preferred: yacht experience 30m+ in Hong Kong/Asia waters; additional safety certificates

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily exterior cleaning and maintenance to keep the yacht in pristine condition.
• Assist with docking, anchoring, and mooring operations including line handling and fender deployment.
• Operate and maintain tenders, jet skis, and other water toys; assist guests during water sports.
• Perform watch-keeping duties and act as lookout during passages when required.
• Support safety drills, emergency procedures, and maintain deck equipment and gear.
• Help prepare the yacht for owner/guest trips and post-trip turnarounds.
• Undertake general maintenance tasks such as sanding, painting, basic carpentry, and rust removal.

Job description

We are recruiting a Deckhand to join the crew of a 100ft+ private motor yacht managed on behalf of our client. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start or develop a career in the superyacht industry while working on a large, well-maintained vessel in Hong Kong and regional waters. The Deckhand will support exterior maintenance, guest services, and safe deck operations under the supervision of the Captain.

Key responsibilities

Carry out daily exterior cleaning and maintenance: wash-downs, teak cleaning, stainless polishing, varnishing, and painting to keep the yacht in pristine condition.

Assist with docking, anchoring, and mooring operations including line handling, fender deployment, and anchor/windlass work.

Operate and maintain tenders, jet skis, and other water toys; support guests during water sports activities.

Perform watch-keeping duties and act as lookout during passages when required.

Support safety drills, emergency procedures, and maintain deck lockers, equipment, and safety gear.

Help prepare the yacht for owner/guest trips and post-trip turnarounds.

Undertake general maintenance tasks as directed (sanding, painting, basic carpentry, rust removal, etc.).

About you

Physically fit and able to perform demanding outdoor work.

Hong Kong Pleasure Vessel Operator Grade 2 Certificate (or recognised equivalent); candidates with higher grades or additional vessel licences will be given preference.

Valid STCW Basic Safety Training certificate (or equivalent recognised under the STCW Convention).

Strong swimming ability.

Excellent spoken and written English – able to follow instructions precisely, communicate clearly with crew and guests, and complete basic written reports/logs.

Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work well in a team.

Willingness to live on board and work on a rotational schedule with extended periods away from home.

Preferred: Previous experience on yachts 30m+ (or similar size vessels), especially in Hong Kong / Asia waters.

Preferred: RYA Powerboat Level 2, Proficiency in Survival Craft, or other recognised deck/safety certificates.
