Job summary

Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Asia) Limited is recruiting a Database Administrator in Hong Kong to manage and maintain mission-critical databases. You will design, implement and maintain HA/DR architectures, monitor performance, and support daily database operations across Oracle, MySQL and SQL Server.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree, has at least 3 years of hands-on experience, and demonstrates strong Linux/Windows maintenance skills with good English and Chinese

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in maintaining Oracle, MySQL or SQL Server.
• Proficient in Linux and Windows maintenance commands.
• Strong verbal and written communication in English and Chinese; Cantonese advantageous.
• Able to work independently and under pressure while adhering to bank policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform management and maintenance tasks for various databases.
• Design, implement, and maintain High Availability (HA) / Disaster Recovery (DR) architectures for database environments.
• Monitor databases and manage performance and capacity.
• Troubleshoot database incidents and conduct root cause analysis.
• Implement and maintain baseline configurations and security settings for databases.
• Develop database-related policies, standards, procedures, and manuals.
• Participate in the bank's domestic database transformation initiatives.
• Contribute to the planning and implementation of daily database projects within the bank.
• Track the latest database technologies and provide optimization recommendations.
• Perform other assigned ad-hoc duties.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher; Oracle OCP or higher-level certification preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in maintaining at least one of the following: Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, including daily operations, troubleshooting, and performance tuning. Experience with domestic databases like GaussDB, PolarDB, or OceanBase is a plus.
• Proficient in basic maintenance commands for Linux, Windows operating systems, and SAN storage.
• Meticulous, responsible, and able to adhere to bank policies and regulations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in both Chinese (Mandarin) and English; Cantonese speaking ability is advantageous.
• Excellent analytical thinking and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively under pressure.
