Job summary

Intact Data Science Lab in Hong Kong is seeking an enthusiastic Data Scientist intern for the Winter 2027 term (Jan–Apr) or Summer 2027 term (May–Aug). This role offers a hybrid work arrangement in Science Park, Hong Kong, and opportunities to collaborate across HK and Canada teams.

You will apply machine learning and advanced statistics to real business problems, work with a diverse team of experts, and grow your skills in Python, NLP/LLM and our tech stack.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a quantitative post-secondary program.
• Available for Winter 2027 (Jan–Apr) or Summer 2027 (May–Aug) term.
• Must be an active student during internship and plan to return to school.
• Experience in predictive modelling or ML is an asset.
• Curious, collaborative and able to tackle vague problems creatively.

Responsibilities

• Transform complex datasets into actionable insights and recommendations.

We are looking for Data Scientist interns who are interested in contributing to our 2027 Data Scientist Internship/Co-op for either our Winter term, January to April, or our summer term, June to August. This position is based in Science Park, Hong Kong with the opportunity to work in a hybrid arrangement.

As a Data Scientist I, you will:

• Use machine learning and advanced statistics to help build innovative solutions for real-life customer and business problems

• Transform complex datasets into meaningful conclusions and recommendations

• Grow alongside a diverse team of world-class experts in data science, software engineering, actuarial science, business, and design

• Collaborate with our teams in HK & Canada to share knowledge, learnings, and tools

• Skills required: Python, NLP/LLM

• Familiar with our tech stack: scikit-learn, xgboost, pytorch, tensorflow, LightGBM, pandas, etc.,

Here’s what you bring to the table:

• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary degree in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, science, engineering, statistics, AI, computer science or a related field.

• Available to work with us full-time, 37.5 hours per week, for the Winter 2027 term (January to April) or Summer 2027 term (May to August)

• Must be an active student during your internship and/or returning to school following your internship.

• Relevant experience in predictive modelling, machine learning and advanced statistics solving business problems is an asset

• Unlimited curiosity and a passion to challenge the status quo

• Ability to focus on vaguely defined issues requiring the application of a creative approach

• Excellent communication, organization and a collaborative attitude

• Self-reliant with a strong sense of responsibility;
