A leading financial regulator in Hong Kong seeks a Data Governance Specialist to drive organisation-wide governance initiatives and refine the Data Governance Framework. You will support metadata management, tagging, and data quality tools while advancing AI readiness and regulatory compliance.

Job description

Our client is a leading financial regulator in Hong Kong, they are looking for a Data Governance Specialist for driving data governance initiatives for their institution.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Act as a core support member of the Data Governance team to drive organisation-wide data governance initiatives.
• Support the implementation and continuous refinement of the organisation-wide Data
• Governance Framework, standards, and controls, particularly for unstructured data management.
• Assist in the design and optimisation of tools and technology for implementing data governance, including metadata management, data access workflow, auto-classification and tagging, and data quality management.
• Support the adoption of unstructured data governance practices, including establishing ontology and managing taxonomy, and driving organisation-wide data tagging to enhance discoverability and AI readiness.
• Support data privacy, data protection, and data security compliance initiatives in alignment with regulatory and internal requirements.
• Monitor governance effectiveness and recommend continuous improvements.

REQUIREMENT:

• 3+ years of experience in data management and data governance, preferably within Technology, Banking or Financial Services.
• Solid experience in data governance and data management disciplines, including metadata management, data classification and tagging, data privacy and data protection, data security and access controls, data quality management, etc.
• Hands-on experience with data governance tools and platforms (e.g., data catalogue, data lineage, data quality tools), and the ability to leverage them to operationalise Data Governance Framework.
• Proficiency in SQL for data extraction, transformation, profiling, and analysis
• Working knowledge of Python for data processing, automation, text mining, and basic machine learning
• Understanding of data governance foundation required for AI readiness is a plus.
