Job summary

PCCW is seeking a Data Analytics Engineer to join the Data Analytics Platform Team in Hong Kong. The role focuses on SSAS-based analytics, maintaining Power BI dashboards, and contributing to the design, delivery, and operation of data and reporting platforms to support operational and executive reporting needs.

You will collaborate with architecture, development, data provider, data consumer, and business stakeholders to design scalable data pipelines, resolve issues, and deliver insights.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, or related discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in BI, data engineering, or analytics platform projects.
• Strong Power BI frontend development and SSAS backend support experience.
• Experience with star schema and snowflake design for data modelling.
• SQL Server development including stored procedures and DDL/DML.
• Proficient in English and Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese).

Responsibilities

• Provide backend support for SSAS solutions including model design, deployment support, and production issue resolution.
• Collaborate with architecture, development, data provider/consumer, and business stakeholders to support design and delivery.
• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards including enterprise operation and executive dashboards.
• Contribute to use case development, workshops, and requirements gathering.
• Document technical specifications, requirements, designs, and operational procedures.
• Analyse new data sources and assess impact on pipelines and SSAS models.
• Bridge business requirements with ETL/SSAS logic and troubleshoot data discrepancies.
• Support continuous improvement of ETL pipelines and data platform design.

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data Analytics Engineer to join our Data Analytics Platform Team. The role focuses on supporting SSAS-based analytics solutions, maintaining Power BI frontend dashboards, and contributing to the design, delivery, and operation of data and reporting platforms. The ideal candidate will be capable of working across backend architecture, data modelling, dashboard development, and business stakeholder engagement to support both operational and executive reporting needs.

Job Duties

• Provide backend support for SSAS solutions, including model design, deployment support, environment migration, version control, performance monitoring, and production issue resolution.
• Work closely with architecture, development, data provider, data consumer, and business stakeholder groups to support solution design, issue resolution, and delivery.
• Develop and maintain Power BI frontend dashboards, including enterprise operation dashboards and executive dashboards that support leadership decision-making with clear KPI visualization, trend analysis, and business performance tracking.
• Contribute to use case development, workshops, and requirement gathering sessions to validate business needs and align stakeholder expectations.
• Document technical specifications, functional requirements, non-functional requirements, solution designs, and operational procedures.
• Analyse new data sources using a structured data quality evaluation approach and assess the impact of integrating new data into existing pipelines and SSAS models.
• Bridge business requirements and ETL / SSAS logic by troubleshooting data discrepancies and implementing scalable solutions.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives for ETL pipelines, data platform design, reporting solutions, and data product delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience, including hands-on experience in BI solution, data engineering, or analytics platform projects. Strong technical understanding of data quality metrics, data modelling, architecture principles, and design techniques across master data, transaction data in data platform.
• Strong experience in Power BI frontend development, including data objects, report objects, service objects, and report lifecycle management. Proven capability in designing and delivering management reporting, operational dashboards, and executive-level dashboards. Strong experience in data processing, data modelling, and semantic model design, including star schema and snowflake design.
• Strong hands-on experience in SSAS solution support, with a solid understanding of backend architecture, deployment processes, environment management, and production support.
• Experience in migration of Power BI data models to SSAS data models, including best practices for version control, deployment, and promotion across testing and production environments.
• At least 2 years of SQL Server development experience, including stored procedures, SQL DDL, and DML.

• Proficient in both spoken and written English and Chinese, including Mandarin and Cantonese.
• Drives excellence through a strong sense of ownership and continuous improvement mindset. Proactive, detail-oriented, and strong in problem-solving, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Professional certifications related to Power BI, SSAS, SQL Server, data engineering, BI development, or project delivery will be considered an advantage.
• Candidates with less experience may also be considered for the Data Analytics Engineer (Power BI / SSAS) role, depending on overall capability, technical strength, and development potential.
