Job summary

PCCW is seeking a Senior Data Analytics Solution Engineer to lead Oracle, PostgreSQL, SSAS and PBIRS platform architecture, implementation and long‑term operations within the Data Warehouse Team. Job description

Seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented (Senior) Data Analytics Solution Engineer to join the Data Warehouse Team, with primary responsibility for Oracle, PostgreSQL, SSAS and Power BI Report Server (PBIRS) platform architecture, implementation, and long‑term operational support. The role is responsible for designing and sustaining complex analytical models, resolving platform and environment constraints, and coordinating with cross‑functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and maintainable analytics solutions. This position requires in-demand Oracle, PostgreSQL, SSAS and Power BI expertise, especially in environments requiring deep knowledge of machine‑level configuration, security compliance controls, network protocols, authentication, and enterprise BI platform lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

• Translate analytics and reporting requirements into Oracle, PostgreSQL, SSAS and PBIRS solution design, and work closely with stakeholders including architecture team, security team, domain administrator, database administration team, platform team, developers, and business users to ensure successful implementation.
• Architect and implement enterprise analytical solutions for change requests and platform enhancements, including addressing challenging technical limitations such as PBIRS file size restrictions (e.g. 2 GB limitation) and related environment constraints.
• Design, develop, maintain, and optimize complex Oracle, PostgreSQL, SSAS analytical models and semantic layers to support enterprise reporting, analytics, and reusable data services.
• Serve as the primary liaison across key stakeholders to align infrastructure setup, security requirements, authentication mechanisms, deployment activities, and operational readiness of BI solutions.
• Review machine‑level configuration, security compliance controls, network protocols, authentication setup, and environment dependencies to ensure solutions are robust, compliant, and production‑ready.
• Establish CI/CD pipelines, automated controls, release governance, version control, and deployment procedures for Oracle, PostgreSQL, SSAS and PBIRS across different test and production environments.
• Define and maintain lifecycle management processes, monitoring controls, operational standards, and runbooks to support maintainability, auditability, supportability, and compliant deployments.
• Proactively identify and mitigate architectural and operational risks to prevent late‑stage rework, remove delivery blockers, and sustain long‑term operational resilience.
• Provide production support for SSAS models and PBIRS reports, including incident troubleshooting, root cause analysis, performance tuning, and problem resolution.
• Continuously optimize SSAS model design, query performance, report rendering, deployment efficiency, and platform stability to ensure a scalable analytics platform for current and future change requests.
• Document technical specifications covering functional and non‑functional requirements, operational controls, deployment standards, and support procedures for BI platform components.

To succeed in this role

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in project management, business management, mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, or related field.
• Strong technical understanding of data quality metrics, data modelling, design and architecture principles and techniques across master data, transaction data and data warehouse.
• Expert with Stored Procedure (e.g. PostgreSQL, Oracle PL/SQL) and SQL DDL/DML.
• Experience in Oracle data and objects migration to PostgreSQL. Especially for Stored Procedure with Dynamic SQL
• Python, Java Spring boot, docker or OCP skill are advantages.
• Experience in Power BI tool with usage of data objects, report objects, and service objects in different scenarios
• Experience in Star Scheme and Snowflake design and dimensional modelling
• Knowledge with Power BI and/or SSAS Row level security
• Experience to use JSON API data service for rendering Power BI report
• Knowledge with Power Query M script is an advantage
• Strong Power BI skill with SSAS multi‑dimensional model as data source
• Migration of Power BI data model to SSAS data model is best practice.
• SSAS model change version control and deployment across different testing environments and production.
• Performance monitoring and management of Power BI servers and SSAS servers.
• Proficient in both spoken and written English and Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese).
• Proactive with good problem solving and multitasking skills
• At least 5+ years of IT experience with 2-years in data migration, business intelligence and/or data warehouse pipelines projects. At least 3-year experience with Oracle or SQL Server SQL development.
