Job summary

DayOne in Hong Kong is seeking a Shift Lead to oversee a team of shift technicians, ensuring critical data centre services are delivered to the highest standards and that shift handovers are accurate and timely.

You will lead operational oversight during the shift, monitor building systems, coordinate with other departments, provide technical support, and drive safety, compliance and continuous improvement within a fast-paced, 24/7 environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in data centre operations or a similar role.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Technical proficiency in data centre systems and operations.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Leadership and Supervision: Lead and manage a team of shift technicians, ensuring they perform their duties effectively. Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to team members.
• Operational Oversight: Ensure all data centre operations are running smoothly and efficiently during the shift. Monitor critical services and building systems to identify and address potential issues promptly. Coordinate with other departments and stakeholders to resolve operational challenges.
• Shift Handover Management: Prepare detailed shift handover reports, documenting all relevant information, incidents, and actions taken during the shift. Ensure shift handover reports are completed and communicated effectively before the end of each shift. Conduct shift handover meetings to brief the incoming shift on the current status and any ongoing issues.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, standard operating procedures, and regulatory requirements. Conduct regular safety drills and training sessions for the shift team. Report and document any safety incidents or near-misses promptly.
• Technical Support: Provide technical assistance and support to the shift team as needed. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during the shift. Coordinate with the technical support team for complex problem resolution.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies. Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives within the shift team. Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
