Job summary

Michael Page International (Hong Kong) Limited is recruiting an experienced Data Architecture Director based in Hong Kong. The role focuses on defining and leading enterprise data architecture, data governance, and data platforms to meet regulatory reporting and business needs.

You will drive data strategy across data ingestion, storage, lineage and APIs, while mentoring a team and communicating with senior management and regulators in English and Chinese.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Management, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years in enterprise data architecture, data management, data platforms, or enterprise architecture in banking/financial services.
• At least 5 years leading data teams and cross-functional units.
• Strong knowledge of banking data, core banking systems, regulatory reporting, risk management, and finance data domains.
• Deep expertise in data modelling, metadata management, MDM, data lineage, and ETL/ELT frameworks.
• Solid understanding of modern data platforms (cloud, hybrid, data warehouse, lakehouse).
• Fluent in English and Chinese with excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead target enterprise data architecture including data domains and master data management.
• Design data architectures to support HKMA, Basel, IFRS, liquidity, finance and risk reporting.
• Develop end-to-end data lineage capabilities for transparency and audit readiness.
• Lead the Data Governance Framework with data quality standards, glossaries, processes and KPIs.
• Define strategic roadmaps for data platforms covering ingestion, storage, warehouse/lakehouse, and APIs.
• Present complex data concepts to senior management and regulators in a clear, executive-ready way.
• Mentor and develop a team of data architects and engineers to foster a data-driven culture.

Job Description

As a Data Architecture Director, your main responsibilities will include:

• Define and lead the organization's target enterprise data architecture, including data domains, canonical data models, master data management, and data ownership structures.
• Design data architectures that support regulatory and management reporting requirements, including HKMA, Basel, IFRS, liquidity, finance, and risk reporting.
• Develop end-to-end data lineage capabilities to improve transparency, traceability, and audit readiness.
• Lead the implementation of a comprehensive Data Governance Framework, including data quality standards, business glossaries, governance processes, stewardship models, and KPI monitoring.
• Define strategic roadmaps for enterprise data platforms covering data ingestion, integration, storage, warehouse/lakehouse environments, and data consumption through reporting, analytics, and APIs.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior management, translating complex data concepts into executive and regulator-ready presentations and recommendations.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data architects, analysts, and engineering professionals while fostering a strong data-driven culture.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Data Architecture Director should have:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Management, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in enterprise data architecture, data management, data platforms, or enterprise architecture within the banking or financial services sector.
• At least 5 years of leadership experience managing technical and business-facing data teams.
• Strong knowledge of banking data, core banking systems, regulatory reporting, risk management, and finance data domains.
• Deep expertise in data modelling, metadata management, master data management (MDM), data lineage, and ETL/ELT frameworks.
• Solid understanding of modern data platform architectures, including cloud, hybrid, warehouse, and lakehouse environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and relationship management capabilities.
• Fluency in both English and Chinese, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Annual base salary ranging from HKD 1,080,000 to HKD 1,200,000.
