Job summary

China State Construction Engineering ( Hong Kong ) Limited is seeking a Contract Structural Engineer to support design review, site supervision, and contract administration at the Kwu Tung North construction site. Qualifications

• A Corporate Member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) in the Structural Discipline or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of post-chartered experience; contract administration and site supervision on HK government projects preferred.
• Proven ability to review design submissions, calculations, drawings, and method statements.
• Familiarity with local codes, regulations, and contract administration procedures in Hong Kong.
• Proven experience in structural design reviews, foundation engineering, and temporary geotechnical works.

Job Duties

• Design Review and Checking:
  • Review and comment on the Contractor’s foundation and structural design submissions, including drawings, calculations, and reports.
  • Verify compliance with contract requirements, statutory regulations, and relevant codes of practice.
  • Verify adequacy of temporary works designs (e.g. ELS, temporary supporting structures for tower crane and etc).
• Material & Method Statement Assessment:
  • Check and endorse material approval submissions, ensuring conformity with specifications and performance standards.
  • Review and advise on method statements for structural construction, dismantling, foundation works, and temporary works.
• Site Supervision and Coordination:
  • Assist in monitoring construction works to ensure quality and compliance with approved designs.
  • Report on workmanship, deviations, and corrective measures required.
• Contract Administration Support:
  • Prepare technical assessments and recommendations for compensation events, variations, claims, and contractual matters related to structural works.
  • Maintain proper records of design reviews, approvals, and site inspections.
• Liaison and Communication:
  • Act as technical representatives in meetings with the Client, consultants, and authorities.
  • Provide timely responses to queries raised by the Project Manager or other stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Corporate Member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) in the Structural Discipline, or equivalent;
• Have at least 5 years of post-chartered experience. Contract adminiistration and site supervision experience in Hong Kong government projects is preferred;
• Attain Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent (Note: Grade "E" in Chinese language and English language (syllabus B) in HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to 'Level 2' Chinese language and English language in 2007 HKCEE and henceforth);
• Demonstrated experience in design review, construction supervision, and compliance with local codes and standards;
• Proficiency in reviewing technical submissions, including design calculations, drawings, material specifications, and method statements;
• Familiarity with relevant statutory requirements, codes of practice, and contract administration procedures in Hong Kong; and
• Have demonstrable experience in structural design review, foundation engineering, and temporary geotechnical works (including Excavation and Lateral Support systems).
