Job summary

Hex Trust seeks a Compliance Officer and MLRO in Hong Kong to manage daily compliance activities and maintain the company’s AML program. You will report to the Head of Legal and Compliance and guide business stakeholders on regulatory obligations.

Responsibilities include AML/CFT reviews, policy implementation, governance enhancement, and cross‑functional collaboration to strengthen AML/KYC systems and regulatory filings. Fluency in English and Cantonese is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or Law.
• Compliance Professional Designation (ICA, CAMS) is a plus.
• 8–10 years of relevant compliance experience in financial institutions or regulated entities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to prioritise without close supervision.
• Self-motivated, meticulous, analytical and well organized.

Responsibilities

• Conduct AML/CFT review, analysis, and risk monitoring on accounts and transaction flows.
• Advise stakeholders on regulatory obligations and expectations.
• Develop governance around AML with policies and procedures; process improvements.
• Create compliance procedures and controls; provide commercial compliance advice.
• Implement and review compliance policies, procedures, and practices.
• Collaborate with technical teams to enhance AML/KYC systems.
• Maintain regulatory registers and filings with regulators as required.
• Liaise with regulators and law enforcement regarding STR filings.

About the Job

The Compliance Officer and MLRO will be the person responsible in the management of the daily activities of the Compliance department and maintenance of the company's compliance and AML program in Hong Kong, with direct reporting to the Head of Legal and Compliance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct AML/CFT review, analysis, and risk monitoring on accounts and transaction flows
• Advise the business stakeholders on the existing and ongoing compliance obligations with respect to regulatory standards and expectations
• Work closely with the Head of Legal and Compliance and the other Compliance Officers of the group to develop and enhance the existing governance around AML, including new policies and procedures, process enhancement, etc
• Work with the Business to develop compliance procedures and controls, and provide commercially orientated compliance advice
• Implement and review compliance policies, procedures, and practices
• Lead and contribute to various compliance-related projects, including liaising with the technical development team to further enhance the company's systems and AML/KYC-related systems
• Maintain regulatory registers and make necessary filings with the Regulator as required
• Liaise with Regulators and law enforcement agencies in relation to any requests received and the filing of STRs

Requirements

• Compliance Professional Designation (e.g., ICA, CAMS certification)
• 8 to 10 years of relevant Compliance experience in a financial institution or regulated entity
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to prioritize without close supervision
• Self-motivated, meticulous, analytical and strong organization skills
• Good understanding of the business dynamics of a financial institution, strong knowledge of virtual assets and payment services
• Proficiency in spoken and written English and Cantonese
• Proficient in the use of Google products and AI agentic tools (e.g. Claude)
• Ability to think critically, work on several concurrent matters, have an analytical mindset and pay keen attention to details
• Experience in VA KYT analytical tools (e.g. Chainalysis, Eliptics) is a strong plus
