The role requires 5–10 years of relevant experience, a deep understanding of China’s economy and policy environment, and strong English communication skills; Mandarin proficiency is preferred.

Capital Group is seeking to add an experienced economist to expand its China economic research in close collaboration with the existing Capital Strategy Research team (“CSR”) and the Investment Group.
CSR is a unit within Capital’s Investment Group with a team of specialists who provide high-quality, original and relevant economic, political, accounting and industry research that empowers investment professionals to achieve superior, long-term investment results and enhances our client-facing efforts.
Based in Hong Kong, the economist will be the second CSR economist focused on China macro research, adding depth to our existing coverage and reflecting both the importance of China to Capital Group’s investment process and the continued growth of our business in Asia.
The role of the CSR Economist is to conduct and clearly communicate original, investment-relevant research on China’s economy and policy environment. The economist will work closely with the Investment Group, with a particular focus on partnering with equity investors while also supporting fixed income investment discussions.

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital’s annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
