The Business Development Director will be responsible for originating and converting new business opportunities across Greater China, deepening strategic relationships, and expanding the firm’s market presence among asset-management participants operating in or into the region.
The role requires a commercially minded leader with:
- strong knowledge of fund structures, reporting and regulatory requirements across Hong Kong and Mainland China markets
- experience navigating cross-border business environments, and
- a proven track record of selling professional or advisory services to institutional clients.
You will work closely with senior leadership to shape market strategy, develop partnership channels, and position the firm as a trusted specialist provider within the alternatives and asset‑management ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a Greater China go-to-market strategy covering Hong Kong and Mainland China.
- Identify, originate, and convert new business opportunities with:
- Fund administrators and outsourced service providers
- Asset‑management platforms, family offices, and institutional investors
- Build and maintain a high-quality pipeline of prospects, referral partners, and strategic alliances across both jurisdictions.
- Lead end-to-end business‑development activities including prospecting, presentations, proposals, pricing, and contract negotiation.
- Represent the firm at industry events and networking forums in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Beijing, and other financial centres.
- Support cross-border client onboarding and collaborate with delivery teams to ensure excellent client experience.
- Provide market intelligence on regulatory, reporting, and industry trends across Greater China and contribute to new-service development.
- Prepare regular sales pipeline, revenue forecasts, and performance reporting for senior leadership.
Qualifications & Experience
- 8+ years’ experience in business development, client coverage, or commercial roles within professional services, fund administration, accounting, or asset‑management services.
- Strong understanding of fund structures, financial and regulatory reporting, and accounting processes relevant to Greater China and international fund jurisdictions.
- Demonstrable track record of winning and growing institutional client relationships.
- Established network across fund managers, fund administrators, custodians, or institutional investors in Hong Kong and Mainland China.
- Ability to operate confidently in cross-cultural and bilingual business environments.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
- Self‑starter with an entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable working in a boutique, high‑growth environment.
- Fluency in English plus Mandarin and/or Cantonese required
