Job summary

King & Wood is seeking an Associate to join its Banking & Finance team in Hong Kong. The role focuses on cross-border financing, including syndicated and bilateral lending and PRC-related transactions, with supervision of junior lawyers and coordination with offshore and local counsel.

The ideal candidate has 2–4 years of post-qualification experience, is qualified to practise Hong Kong law, and can work in English and Chinese, with Mandarin being essential and Cantonese advantageous.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of post-qualification legal experience, preferably gained within an international law firm.
• Qualification to practise Hong Kong law. Additional English law qualification is an advantage.
• Multi-jurisdictional financing transactional experience, and good command of drafting and reviewing finance documentation.
• Ability to work in both written English and Chinese; Mandarin required; Cantonese language is an advantage.

About the job Banking & Finance - Associate (L)

Position Summary

We are looking for an Associate to work in our banking and finance team, with banking and finance experience focused on cross-border financing.

You will have the opportunity to build a successful career in an achievement orientated yet supportive environment. You will be working in one of the most established full-service banking and finance teams in the biggest law firm in Hong Kong (by lawyer headcount), and will enjoy the challenge of handling matters independently, seeking guidance when required. The role will focus on transactional work comprising syndicated and bilateral lending, acquisition financing and PRC-related financings, principally acting for lenders and arrangers. Solid experience in these areas, excellent deal management and communication skills, and the ability to provide commercially astute advice are required to support clients' needs in this role.

Qualifications & Knowledge

You will have:

• 2-4 years of post-qualification legal experience, preferably gained within an international law firm;
• Qualification to practise Hong Kong law. Additional English law qualification is an advantage;
• Multi-jurisdictional financing transactional experience, and good command of drafting and reviewing finance documentation, demonstrating familiarity with recommended forms of the Asia Pacific Loan Markets Association (APLMA) and market standards;
• Ability to provide commercially astute advice to the client;
• Ability to coordinate multiple parties, including counsel in offshore jurisdictions;
• Ability to supervise and delegate to junior lawyers, paralegals and trainees; client relationship experience an advantage;
• Ability to work in both written English and Chinese. Fluent in English and Mandarin. Cantonese language is an advantage.
