Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data in Hong Kong invites applications for a senior communications role focused on media and public engagement. The successful candidate will develop events, monitor public sentiment on data privacy, respond to incidents, and drive the PCPD's online presence, including web and social media platforms.
The position is a 2-year contract with a monthly salary range of HK$37,585 to HK$63,100, plus annual leave, medical and dental insurance, cash
A good Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised university in Hong Kong, or a university in a common law jurisdiction;
A Level 2 result in the Use of English paper and a Level 2 result in the Use of Chinese paper in the Common Recruitment Examination, or preferably Grade “C” or above in Use of English in the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE), or Grade “5” or above in English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE), or equivalent, or a minimum overall band score of 6.5 in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with the Writing Sub-test score not lower than 6; good command of written and spoken Chinese, preferably Grade “C” or above in Chinese Language in HKALE, or Grade “5” or above in HKDSE, or equivalent; and
A minimum of 5 years of post-qualification work experience, preferably in corporate communications, media management, public affairs, public relations, event management, corporate training, public education, or moral/civic education in a comparable set-up.
Good networking, marketing and promotional skills;
An organised, meticulous and flexible self-starter with a strong ability to multi-task under tight deadlines;
Strong analytical ability and sound judgement with a high level of acumen regarding social and political issues;
Positive, diligent and self-motivated with good interpersonal skills;
Sound knowledge of digital communications, social media and website management, including content creation and audience engagement;
Good presentation skills in both written and oral English and Chinese;
Experience in preparing publicity materials, planning and implementing promotional campaigns and designing computer graphics/infographics would be an advantage; and
Experience in engaging with professional bodies, educational institutions and industry associations to organise training programmes would be an advantage.
To develop and organise media and publicity events;
To monitor and analyse the latest trends and public sentiments regarding personal data privacy in the news and online platforms;
To respond to major incidents through various means, including media statements and lines-to-take;
To drive the PCPD websites and social media platforms as dynamic and interactive corporate communications tools;
To produce editorial content, translations, designs and multimedia training/educational materials to a professional standard;
To conduct training courses, talks and seminars, prepare presentation materials and act as the master of ceremonies (MC) for seminars organised by the PCPD;
To organise and design promotion programmes and collaborate with external parties to develop publicity campaigns and education activities; and
To help expand and intensify the Data Protection Officers' Club towards a professional association.
The successful candidate will be rewarded with commensurate remuneration package with monthly salary ranging from $37,585 to $63,100. He or she will be appointed on 2 years’ contract terms. In addition to 5-day week, we provide annual leave, medical and dental insurance benefits, cash allowance and a gratuity on satisfactory completion of contract which, when added to the employer’s contribution to a Mandatory Provident Fund scheme, is up to 10% of the total basic salary for the contract period.
