Job summary

BDO Limited in Hong Kong is seeking an Assistant Manager / Senior Associate in Deal Advisory Services to advise on complex transactions, conduct financial and commercial due diligence, and contribute to valuation and M&A advisory engagements.

You will work alongside experienced professionals on projects, develop and maintain financial models (DCF, comparables), and prepare presentation materials while engaging client management teams.

Qualifications

• Educational background in Finance/Accounting at Bachelor’s or Master's level.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in due diligence, valuation or M&A advisory.
• Professional qualifications such as HKICPA, ACCA, CFA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Due Diligence & Financial Analysis: Assess target financials, identify risks and value drivers.
• Valuation & Market Analysis: Build DCF, comps, and precedent transactions models.
• M&A Advisory & Transaction Support: Prepare materials and coordinate with client teams.
• Reporting & Documentation: Draft reports and databooks with clear analytical findings.
• Collaborate with colleagues across levels from Associates to Directors.

Assistant Manager / Senior Associate – Deal Advisory Services

Role Overview: As a Assistant Manager / Senior Associate in our Deal Advisory Services Department, you will play an integral role in advising clients on complex transactions and financial strategies. You will work alongside experienced professionals on a variety of projects—from financial and commercial due diligence to comprehensive valuation analyses and M&A advisory engagements. This role offers a stimulating environment where analytical rigor meets strategic insight across multiple service dimensions.

What you'll be doing

Due Diligence & Financial Analysis:

Assist in conducting financial and commercial due diligence engagements by analyzing target companies’ financial statements, identifying potential risks, and assessing value drivers.

Valuation & Market Analysis:

Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models (e.g. DCF, comparable companies, precedent transactions).

Perform industry, market, and comparable analysis to support valuation exercises and strategic decision-making.

M&A Advisory & Transaction Support:

Support M&A advisory assignments by preparing informative presentation materials, drafting key sections of reports, and coordinating with client management teams.

Reporting & Documentation:

Assist in drafting detailed and insightful reports and databooks that communicate analytical findings effectively.

Engage with colleagues across various levels—from Associates to Directors—in collaborative problem solving, client interactions, and proposal preparation.

What you'll bring

Educational Background:A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Actuarial Science, Financial Engineering, Mathematics or a closely related discipline.

Experience:A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in due diligence, valuation, M&A advisory, or related financial advisory services; Experience in valuing and/or analysing of virtual assets and cryptocurrencies is preferred. With Crypto/IT background and interested in advisory will be considered.

Professional Credentials:Holding or progressing towards professional qualifications such as HKICPA, ACCA, CFA Charter, FRM, Climate Risk Valuation and Investing Certificate, RICS, or equivalent is preferred.

Technical Proficiency:Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modelling; familiarity including VBA/VBScript, Python, Power BI is a plus.

Communication Skills:Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese.

Personal Attributes:Self-driven, detail-oriented, and able to deliver high-quality work under pressure with a proactive, can-do attitude.
