Qualifications

• University degree preferred; related field is an asset.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on individual life underwriting experience.
• FLMI or ALU credentials are advantageous.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint; AS/400 familiarity preferred.
• Fluent written and spoken English and Chinese.
• Independent, accurate, and collaborative under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Risk Assessment & Underwriting Execution for complex life cases within authority limits.
• Ensure compliance with daily underwriting processes and regulatory requirements.
• Review and optimize internal guidelines, manuals and practices.
• Support in development and testing of underwriting systems including UAT.

Job description

• Risk Assessment & Underwriting Execution: Process all complex medical and financial underwriting assessments for new life insurance applications and post-issue alterations within delegated authority limits.
• Compliance & Policy Management: Implement and adhere to daily underwriting processes and procedures to ensure absolute compliance with up-to-date industry regulatory requirements.
• Guidelines & Manual Optimization: Assist in regular reviews and revisions of the internal underwriting manual, medical/financial guidelines, and operational practices to reflect current risk appetites and market trends.
• Process Enhancement & Automation: Provide constructive feedback on underwriting workflows; actively participate in the development, testing, and enhancement of core underwriting systems (including AS/400 / Life400) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Stakeholder Support & Sales Enablement: Serve as a subject matter expert by providing high-quality underwriting advice, consultations, and solutions to distribution channels, branch networks, and internal operational departments.
• Training & Project Delivery: Deliver professional underwriting training sessions to frontline sales staff and internal peers, and support management on strategic business projects and ad-hoc assignments.

Your Requirements

• Education: University graduate preferred; a degree in Business, Finance, Medical/Biomedical Sciences, or a related field is an asset.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of solid, hands-on experience in individual life underwriting.
• Professional Qualifications: Completion of, or active progress toward, recognized professional insurance designations such as FLMI (Fellow, Life Management Institute) or ALU (Associate, Academy of Life Underwriting) is highly advantageous.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in standard office productivity software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; familiarity with core insurance systems like AS/400 is preferred.
• Language Capabilities: Fluent written and spoken communication skills in both English and Chinese.
• Core Competencies: Ability to work independently with strong job commitment, high accuracy under pressure, and a collaborative team-oriented mindset.
