Mandarin Oriental The Landmark, Hong Kong is seeking an Assistant Communications Manager to join our Public Relations team. Based at Mandarin Oriental The Landmark, Hong Kong, the role supports a wide range of communications across PR, marketing, branding and partnerships under the Director of Marketing Communications.

You will handle media enquiries, prepare press materials, maintain media databases, monitor coverage, and help develop partnerships in a luxury hotel environment.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Marketing, Communications, Hospitality Management or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a similar role, preferably in luxury hotel.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, Cantonese and Putonghua.
  • Strong business acumen with analytical mind for developing and implementing communication strategies.
  • Experience with brand storytelling and developing partnerships.
  • Experience with digital content, social media, and CRM strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Handle daily press enquiries and maintain relationships with local and regional media.
  • Prepare press kits and ensure press releases are up to date with corporate developments.
  • Maintain media database and press release distribution systems.
  • Distribute press releases and media kits to enhance hotel publicity.
  • Produce monthly PR activity reports for MOHG and HK team.
  • Follow hotel coverage across print, online and social media and update clipping reports.
  • Liaise with vendors for press clipping scanning and maintain PR filing system.
  • Draft responses to public inquiries in English and Chinese when necessary.
  • Liaise with printing vendors to ensure branding and corporate standards.

Basedat Mandarin Oriental The Landmark, Hong Kong withinPublic Relations in Hong Kong, the Assistant Communications Manager is responsible for assisting with an exciting and creative range of communications areas, primarily in public relations, marketing communications, branding and partnership. The Assistant Communications Manager reports to the Director of Marketing Communications.


As Assistant Communications Manager, you will be responsible for the following duties:


Media, KOLs & Other Business Partners



  • Handle daily press enquiries such as photoshoot request, menus request, hotel information, and other happenings in the hotel such as events and promotions, and to assist in developing and maintaining excellent business relationships with local and regional media.

  • Research and gather information of Hong Kong’s upcoming events and activities, and keep the PR and marketing team posted.

  • Prepare press kits for new media / KOL visits and make sure press releases are always up to date with the latest corporate development and standard.

  • Media contact entry, and to maintain and update media database to make sure the most recent movements are captured in the media list. Also to maintain the system and make sure all details / history of the media is captured, and to set up an appropriate press release distribution systems.

  • Distribute press releases, media kits, giveaways to enhance the publicity and market positing of the hotel

  • Compile information of the editorial calendars, and to make sure all major features of the year are made aware by the department.

  • Media and competitor monitoring. Maintain intelligence on competitor and industry clippings.

  • Produce monthly report on PR activities and to follow up with top clips to be sent to MOHG and be circulated within the HK team.

  • Follow up and tracking of hotel coverage in traditional print media for both local and international markets, as well as online and key social media, and to make sure the clipping reports are always up to date.

  • Make sure the PR database is always up to date.

  • Update the award list for the hotel.


Partnership



  • Act as the person-in-charge for bank and credit card partners in terms of meaningful partnership, year-round & tactical offers, and exclusive members’ experience to boarder the potential clienteles and guests of the hotel

  • Explore any new partnership to maximize business opportunities for both rooms, wellness and dining outlets.


Administration



  • Draft general response to public enquires, such as sponsorship, educational institution request for site inspection in English, and if necessary, in Chinese.

  • Chinese & simplify Chinese translation of relevant PR documents such as press releases, PR agencies quarterly updates, and travel guide information updates.

  • Liaise with printing vendors on press clippings scanning and to make sure all coverage is captured and reported effectively.

  • Improve and maintain an accurate and updated filing system for PR and communications documents

  • Process departmental expenditure, including drawing up purchase orders, expenses forms, and to make sure all forms are signed and properly follow up with vendors.

  • Liaise with printing vendors on name card to make sure it is according to corporate standard and in line with the latest corporate development.


As Assistant Communications Manager, we expect from you:



  • Degree holder in Marketing, Communications, Hospitality Management or relevant discipline

  • Minimum of 3 years relevant working experience and of similar capacity, preferably in luxury hotel

  • Excellent written and spoken English, Cantonese and Putonghua

  • Good business acumen with analytical mind in developing and implementing communication strategies

  • Strong background in brand positioning, storytelling, and developing partnerships

  • Experienced with digital content, social media, and CRM strategies

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of colleagues and guests
