Job description

  • Manage strategic asset allocation portfolio(s) across global equities, government and credit fixed income, currencies, commodities, cash, liquid alternatives, and other diversifiers, consistent with mandate objectives, risk tolerance, liquidity needs, and applicable constraints
  • Make capital market assumptions and translate them into policy portfolios and model allocations across risk profiles, currencies, client segments, discretionary funds, advisory platforms, and institutional mandates
  • Formulate and implement tactical and dynamic asset allocation tilts versus the strategic policy, sized to a stated risk or tracking-error budget, and review them as valuations, macro regimes, or risk conditions change
  • Construct portfolios with explicit risk budgeting across asset-class weights, factor exposures, country and currency concentrations, and active-risk allocation; integrate macro views of various markets and asset classes into a single whole-portfolio view.
  • Select implementation vehicles, including cash securities, funds, ETFs, listed futures and options, OTC forwards and swaps, and external managers—after weighing liquidity, cost, basis risk, tax, and operational constraints
  • Manage cash, currency hedging, and derivative overlays; rebalance portfolios in response to drift, cash flows, or risk-budget breaches and coordinate execution with Trading to limit implementation shortfall
  • Conduct macroeconomic, cross-asset, valuation, and positioning research, and/or develop and maintain quantitative macro signals and portfolio-optimization tools; monitor risk and produce performance attribution
  • Prepare investment-committee papers, present allocation rationale and performance to internal and external stakeholders, ensure portfolio compliance, and support product design, launches, and thought leadership
  • Investment judgement: forms an independent view of the cycle, valuations, positioning, and risk premia, and sizes positions according to conviction and liquidity
  • Process discipline: separates strategic policy from tactical and dynamic tilts and records the thesis, risk budget, instrument, and exit condition before risk is taken
  • Whole-portfolio thinking: identifies cross-asset correlations, factor overlap, and crowding rather than viewing diversification solely through individual sleeves or holdings
  • Risk awareness and implementation craft: thinks in exposures, tails, liquidity, and path dependency, and understands the cost, basis risk, and operational load of each implementation route
  • Communication and collaboration: writes concise committee papers, explains allocation and performance clearly to specialist and non-specialist audiences, and works effectively across Investments, Trading, Risk, Operations, Sales and Product
  • Intellectual honesty and operating rigor: updates views when evidence changes, distinguishes process quality from short-term results, and remains accurate and reliable around cash flows, rebalances, guideline checks, and reporting deadlines
Qualifications
  • Upright, humble, diligent with high moral values
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline; an advanced degree and/or CFA designation is preferred
  • 5-10 years' relevant experience in global asset allocation, multi-asset portfolio management, macroeconomic or multi-asset research, quantitative investment research, or a related buy-side role with direct influence on portfolio decisions; live implementation experience is preferred
  • Demonstrated command of strategic and tactical allocation, capital market assumptions or an equivalent long-term return framework, risk budgeting, and the practical use of cash instruments, funds, ETFs, and listed or OTC derivatives
  • Evidence of a coherent fundamental, quantitative, or blended investment process, including how ideas become portfolio weights, how risk is measured and capped, and how results are attributed
  • Working knowledge of performance attribution and risk analytics, including volatility, tracking error, value at risk, factor decomposition, and scenario and stress testing, as well as investment guidelines in pooled funds or separate accounts
  • Familiarity with institutional or insurance asset-liability management, wealth-channel model portfolios, multi-manager or fund-of-fund construction, is an advantage
  • Proficiency with Bloomberg and other portfolio or risk systems such as FactSet, Aladdin, or Barra; strong Excel skills; Python or SQL is required for a quantitative process and advantageous for a fundamental process
