EC Healthcare is seeking a senior engineering leader to drive the application development team through end-to-end software delivery. You will define standards, review architectures, and ensure high quality, secure, scalable solutions while guiding the team in AI-assisted development and governance.
Lead initiatives across CI/CD, automated testing, observability and cloud migration, collaborating with PMO and infrastructure teams to meet business priorities and regulatory requirements.
Lead the application development team to perform full software development life cycle: system analysis and design, coding, testing, implementation and post-implementation support.
Define standards and best practices in software development and ensure software quality, maintainability and security.
Review solution and architecture design from teams, provide technical advice and be accountable for final deliverables.
Drive adoption of AI-assisted development across the team — agentic coding tools, prompt and context engineering, and AI-generated code — to improve delivery speed and consistency.
Establish the governance for AI-assisted delivery: define where AI-generated code is acceptable, how it is reviewed and tested, how confidential data, licensing and intellectual property are protected, and how the productivity benefit is measured.
Own engineering enablement for the team: CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, code quality gates, environment and release management, monitoring and observability.
Lead the team to provide production support to live systems and perform incident management.
Drive application modernisation — legacy system replacement, API-first integration, containerisation and cloud migration.
Develop policy and procedure following ITSM framework.
Work with PMO on project requirements, priorities and timeline.
Work with Infrastructure and Cybersecurity teams on non-functional requirements: performance, availability and disaster recovery, secure coding, access control and audit readiness.
Research for proper solution/product that is good for the company, including practical evaluation of emerging AI and automation technology.
Coach and develop the team — technical capability building, knowledge sharing and succession planning.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or any related disciplines.
8+ years of working experience in application development with 3+ years in a management position.
Good technical skills in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous: Java, Spring framework, Hibernate/JPA, typescript, microservices and REST API design, K8S technology, Docker, database, CI/CD, and cloud deployment (Azure / AWS / GCP).
Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Claude Code, Codex) and a practical view on how to apply them productively and safely at team scale.
Sound understanding of the limits of AI-generated code — able to set review, testing and security standards rather than accept generated output at face value.
Exposure to LLM and AI application patterns (API integration, retrieval-augmented generation, agents, MCP) would be an advantage.
Experience with modern engineering practices: automated testing, code quality and static analysis, observability, and DevSecOps.
Awareness of data privacy and secure development obligations (PDPO, OWASP); experience in healthcare or another regulated industry would be an advantage.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proactive, self-motivated, result-orientated, and able to work under pressure.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Good command of Cantonese, English and Mandarin.
