APAC People Tax Manager — Mobility & Employment

Job summary

Qube Research & Technologies (QRT) invites applications for a People Tax Manager for APAC, based in Hong Kong or Singapore. You will lead employment and mobility tax matters across APAC, collaborating with HR, Payroll, Finance and external advisors to support QRT’s global People Tax agenda.

You will advise on international assignments, cross-border remote working, payroll reporting and benefits tax, while monitoring developments across APAC and ensuring compliant tax reporting and withholding.

Qualifications

• 6+ years’ employment tax and/or global mobility experience gained in a Big 4 or other professional services firm, in-house, or both.
• Strong knowledge of employment and mobility tax in APAC jurisdictions, including cross-border employees and business travellers.
• CTA, ADIT, ACA, CPA or an equivalent professional qualification preferred.
• Commercially astute with ability to navigate complex issues across jurisdictions with a pragmatic, risk-based approach.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, able to explain tax issues clearly to non-tax colleagues.
• Organised and detail-oriented with strong project management skills, ownership and urgency, and ability to work independently in a global team.

Responsibilities

• Advise on the tax treatment of international assignments, permanent transfers, cross-border remote working and business travel.
• Evaluate employment tax, permanent establishment and other corporate tax risks for internationally mobile employees.
• Collaborate with HR, Payroll, Finance and external advisors to meet income tax, payroll withholding and social security obligations across APAC.
• Manage short-term business visitor and cross-border working compliance, including employer reporting and withholding requirements.
• Advise on tax treatment and payroll reporting of employee benefits, allowances, deferred compensation and equity-based incentives.
• Oversee tax returns, shadow payroll, tax equalisation and hypothetical tax arrangements where applicable.
• Partner with HR, Payroll, Finance and Reward on tax reporting, withholding and gross-up treatment.
• Monitor employment tax, mobility and incentive developments across APAC and assess impact on QRT.
• Support global People Tax policies and governance, improving processes and automation, strengthening internal controls.
• Manage external advisor relationships and coordinate advice across jurisdictions, supporting wider global People Tax projects.
