Job summary

UBS is seeking an Executive Director level FX strategist for APAC to cover FX strategy, engage on global macro and cross-asset topics with sophisticated clients, and develop forecasts and trade ideas for core APAC currencies. The role requires generating actionable ideas and representing UBS at major client events.

You will co-cover APAC FX with the Head of APAC FX & Rates, drawing on deep regional expertise and strong communication skills to drive investment decisions across Asia Pacific.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Accountancy, or Quantitative Sciences (Master’s/CFA preferred).
• 10–15 years in macro strategy/research/sales at a leading financial institution.
• Experience in research and price forecasting for gold, copper, and aluminum is a plus.
• Advanced use of CEIC, Thomson Reuters, Bloomberg; strong quantitative modeling; leveraging AI in research workflows.
• Confident public speaker; Mandarin or other local language proficiency is an advantage.
• Comfortable working in an international, matrixed team.
• Curiosity about applying AI to improve workflows with sound judgment and compliance.

The team

The UBS Chief Investment Office (CIO) GWM drives the investment decisions of UBS Global Wealth Management via a systematic investment process that makes use of the best internal and external experts across regions and asset classes. The decision of the CIO - the UBS House View - is implemented in advisory and discretionary portfolios within UBS Global Wealth Management. We are looking for an Executive Director level Strategist with a strong track record in Asia Pacific FX and select metals (precious/base). This high-impact role requires generating actionable trade ideas, taking investment positions, and representing UBS at major client events. You will co-cover APAC FX with the Head of APAC FX & Rates.

Your Skills And Experience

• Bachelor’s in Economics, Finance, Accountancy, or Quantitative Sciences (Master’s/CFA preferred)
• 10-15 years in macro strategy/research/sales at a leading financial institution (buy side, sell side, PB)
• experience in research and price forecasting for gold, copper, and aluminum is a plus
• advanced use of CEIC, Thomson Reuters, Bloomberg; strong quantitative modeling; Leverage AI tools to enhance research workflows
• confident public speaker; Mandarin or other local language proficiency for technical presentations and client meetings is an advantage
• comfortable working in an international, matrixed team
• you're curious to explore how AI can improve how we build, deliver, and optimize workflows. You do this with sound judgment - validating outputs and aligning with policies, risk standards, and ethical use.
