Job summary

Outset Global is seeking an experienced Equity Trader to join its APAC desk in Hong Kong. You will own execution across APAC markets, build senior client relationships and work closely with PMs and analysts.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in equity trading, a deep understanding of Asian markets, and a strong client-facing track record. Mandarin is a plus and a SFC Type 1 licence is preferred.

Qualifications

• Based in Hong Kong with the right to work here.
• At least 5 years of equity trading experience focusing on APAC.
• Strong client-facing track record with senior buy-side professionals.
• Fluency in English; Mandarin a plus.
• SFC Type 1 licence or ability to obtain one.
• Bachelor’s in Finance, Economics or related field; Master’s preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as a primary point of contact for buy-side clients, building strong, long-term relationships with PMs, analysts and trading teams.
• Execute trades across APAC equity markets, from New Zealand to India.
• Use a broker-neutral model to deliver best execution and integrate Best Ex and TCA.
• Manage and refine trading strategies to maximise performance and minimise risk.
• Analyse market trends and provide timely colour and insight to PMs and analysts.
• Monitor positions and manage client risk exposure.
• Support new client onboarding and grow the APAC desk.

As the business continues to grow, we’re expanding our Asia team and are looking for an experienced Equity Trader to join us in Hong Kong, focusing on APAC markets.

The role is very client-facing. You’ll be a trusted, day-to-day partner to PMs, analysts and CIOs at our buy-side clients, and you’ll own their execution across the region. The ideal candidate will have a strong equity trading background, a deep understanding of Asian markets, and the confidence to build and keep senior client relationships. We welcome buy-side or sell-side experience, and a mix of both is ideal.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as a primary point of contact for buy-side clients, building strong, long-term relationships with PMs, analysts and trading teams.
• Execute trades across APAC equity markets, from New Zealand to India.
• Use our independent, broker-neutral model to deliver best execution, and build Best Ex and TCA requirements into execution practices.
• Manage and refine trading strategies to maximise performance and minimise risk for our buy-side partners.
• Analyse market trends and give PMs and analysts timely colour and insight that supports their investment process.
• Monitor positions and manage risk exposure effectively for clients.
• Support new client onboarding and help grow the APAC desk.

Qualifications:

• Based in Hong Kong, with the right to work here.
• At least 5 years of equity trading experience, with a focus on APAC markets. Knowledge of futures is a plus.
• A proven client-facing track record, with the gravitas to deal confidently with senior buy-side professionals.
• A collaborative team player who works well across our Hong Kong, London and New York desks and shares market insight, coverage and best practice with colleagues
• Strong understanding of APAC equity market structure.
• Excellent communication, analytical and quantitative skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency in trading systems and technology (EMS/OMS and broker algo suites).
• SFC Type 1 licence, or the ability to obtain one.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• Fluent English; Mandarin is a plus.
