Job summary

Nomura in Hong Kong is seeking a Compliance Monitoring and Surveillance Officer (Vice President) to join the AEJ Monitoring and Surveillance Compliance team. The role involves enhancing surveillance capabilities, driving data analytics initiatives, and aligning with regulatory requirements across Asia-Ex-Japan markets.

You will lead cross-functional projects, manage stakeholders, and work with technology to automate surveillance processes, ensuring robust risk controls and effective governance.

Qualifications

• Min 5 years of experience in market abuse / trade surveillance with hands-on exposure to surveillance platforms.
• Strong data analytics skills with Excel advanced level; working knowledge of SQL and/or Python.
• Exposure to AI/automation tools applied to compliance or operational processes preferred.
• Proven project management experience with multi-stakeholder delivery and governance.

Responsibilities

• Modernize the surveillance function and drive automation across manual processes.
• Identify and streamline manual workflows using data analytics and scripting.
• Lead end-to-end surveillance projects with stakeholders and senior management.
• Assess new risks from regulatory developments and their impact on surveillance.
• Produce senior management reports on surveillance findings and actions taken.
• Collaborate with technology to enhance surveillance applications and models.
