Job summary

IMC is expanding its APAC equities business and seeks a Senior Compliance Officer - Surveillance to own APAC trade surveillance across equities, derivatives and commodities. You will design alerts, analyze data, and work with Trading, Technology, Compliance and Legal to implement robust controls in a fast-moving environment.

Strong Python/SQL skills and experience across APAC markets are essential for delivering defensible investigations and effective surveillance coverage.

Qualifications

• Hands-on trade surveillance experience in a trading or market-making environment.
• Ability to design surveillance alerts from scratch and justify controls.
• Proficiency in Python or SQL for data interrogation and model testing.
• Experience validating alert outputs and challenging systems with independent view.
• Knowledge of APAC regulatory and exchange requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop APAC trade surveillance roadmap for equities expansion across markets.
• Identify market-abuse risks and translate regulations into surveillance controls.
• Apply structured investigation framework for alerts with clear evidence and rationale.
• Design alerts from first principles, including logic, data inputs and thresholds.
• Write functional specs for alerts and data feeds; collaborate with developers.
• Use Python/SQL to interrogate order, trade and market data and test hypotheses.
• Review model logic and vendor surveillance; develop bespoke controls as needed.
• Manage alert queues, maintaining quality while reducing false positives.
• Work with traders to understand strategies and challenge trading activity.
• Support responses to regulatory inquiries with evidence-based analysis.
