Job summary

Barclay Simpson is seeking a Director–Global Markets AI in Hong Kong to lead the build-out of an AI/ML function within the investment bank's Global Markets business. You will own end-to-end AI programmes, collaborating with front-office leadership to deliver high-impact solutions with measurable PnL impact.

Based in Hong Kong, you will manage a hybrid team of 4-6, drive strategy, governance, and responsible AI practices while scaling across asset classes, with a strong emphasis on technical

Qualifications

• Strong technical expertise in AI/ML and ability to stay hands-on where required.
• Proven track record delivering AI/ML solutions in complex, stakeholder-driven environments.
• Experience managing end-to-end AI/ML projects from stakeholder engagement to deployment and governance.
• Experience within Markets or Investment Banking (APAC exposure advantageous).

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a high-performing AI/ML team supporting Global Markets.
• Own end-to-end delivery of AI programmes from ideation through production and governance.
• Partner with trading desks and business leadership to identify high-impact use cases.
• Work with engineering teams and governance frameworks to deliver production-ready AI solutions.
• Apply advanced ML techniques across price forecasting, recommender systems, reinforcement learning, and decision-making under uncertainty with a focus on PnL impact.
• Deliver initial use cases within FX and scale across asset classes.
• Drive best practice across responsible AI and model governance.
