Job summary

The Bank of East Asia (BEA) is seeking a forward-looking Risk Manager to join the AI Model Governance team within the Risk Analytics and Governance Department (RAGD) in Hong Kong. You will execute AI model risk assessments, apply the risk taxonomy, and support residual risk framework while coordinating with developers, data scientists, and business units.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a quantitative field is preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience in Model Risk Management, Governance or Data Science in financial services.
• Understanding statistical modeling and ML algorithms (e.g., NLP, tree-based models, deep learning) and their risks.
• Knowledge of AI evaluation standards: Explainability (XAI), fairness, robustness.
• Proficiency in Python or R, with libraries like NumPy and Pandas.
• Experience with banking governance platforms is a plus.
• Familiarity with HKMA guidance on AI and SR26-2.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with evolving AI regulations.
• Excellent English written and verbal communication to explain risk findings.
• Hands-on, detail-oriented contributor ensuring accurate documentation and risk evaluations.

Responsibilities

• AI Use Case Assessment & Review: perform initial risk assessments to categorize risk levels.
• Framework Execution: apply AI Model Risk Taxonomy and support residual risk framework development.
• Monitoring & Compliance: review model performance monitoring for data drift, decay, and bias; monitor HKMA/MAS guidance.
• Stakeholder Advisory: guide model developers and business units on documenting purpose, risk tiers, and approvals.
