Job summary

At AIA, a Data Scientist, AI Application role focuses on embedding a customer-first mindset while driving AI initiatives across Technology, Data and Analytics. The position involves researching AI technologies, supporting POC activities, and collaborating with business teams to translate needs into scalable AI solutions.

You will contribute to AI program roadmaps, assist in solution design, and help deliver proofs-of-concept, prototypes, and governance-aligned deployments across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, science, or related fields.
• Relevant experience in AI projects delivery.
• Experience in distributed system tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Redis, Kafka, etc.
• Hands on project experience in generative AI tech stack.
• Customer focus to understand customer pain points and deliver value-added tech solutions.
• Good team player.
• Strong communication skills in English, Mandarin, or Cantonese.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of AI initiatives by researching emerging AI technologies, industry trends, and business use cases that may enhance operational efficiency and customer experience.
• Contribute to AI program and roadmap activities by gathering requirements, documenting opportunities, and assisting with the planning and tracking of AI-related projects.
• Assist in AI solution assessment and experimentation, supporting prototyping, testing, and feasibility studies under the guidance of senior team members and subject matter experts.
• Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to understand user needs, collect feedback, and help ensure AI solutions align with business objectives and operational requirements.
• Promote awareness and adoption of AI capabilities by supporting knowledge-sharing activities, preparing presentations or materials, and communicating project outcomes to relevant stakeholders.
• Continuously build AI and digital skills by staying informed of new technologies, best practices, and organisational standards, applying learning to support ongoing AI initiatives.
• Act as a strategic bridge between business and technology, translating business vision into AI solution strategies and executable architecture designs.
• Communicate complex AI concepts, solution architectures, and trade-offs clearly to senior stakeholders and governance forums.
• Influence long-term technology direction and drive adoption of AI capabilities across AIA Group.
• Act as a thought leader in AI and digital transformation, shaping innovation agendas and elevating engineering and solution design maturity across the organisation.

About the Role

Customer Centricity - This role contributes to the delivery of customer outcomes that are reliable, thoughtful, and create meaningful impact for customers and society. To support AIA’s mission of helping customers live healthier, longer, and better lives, the Data Scientist, AI Application will support the organisation’s Technology, Data and Analytics (TDA) transformation by contributing to the design, implementation, and adoption of AI-enabled solutions. The role will work closely with business and technology teams to understand business requirements, assist in solution design activities, and help translate business needs into practical and scalable technology solutions.

The role will assist in evaluating AI use cases, conducting research, supporting proof-of-concept activities, and helping delivery the solutions while aligning with enterprise architecture standards, security requirements, and governance guidelines.

Beyond project delivery, the role will support knowledge-sharing initiatives, maintain project and solution repositories, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

Through collaboration with cross-functional teams, ongoing learning, and a strong focus on stakeholder engagement to drive the successful delivery and adoption of AI solutions across the organisation.

Roles and Responsibilities

Strategic AI Leadership & Innovation (30%)

Support the design and implementation of AI solutions by assisting with requirements gathering, data analysis, solution documentation, and testing activities to address business needs.

Conduct research on AI, machine learning, and generative AI technologies, summarising findings and identifying potential applications to improve business processes and customer experiences.

Deliver proof-of-concept (POC) and prototyping activities, helping to validate solution feasibility, assess business value, and gather stakeholder feedback.

Contribute to innovation initiatives by exploring new tools, techniques, and best practices, and sharing insights with team members to support continuous improvement.

Support solution testing, validation, and deployment activities, ensuring deliverables meet business requirements and established quality standards.

Develop practical AI user cases through hands on project experience, training, and continuous learning, applying new knowledge to support ongoing AI initiatives.

Business Communication, Stakeholder Alignment & Change Management (20%)

Minimum Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, science, or related fields, or equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability.
• Relevant experience in AI projects delivery role.
• Experience in distributed system tools, such as Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Redis, Kafka, etc.
• Hands on project experience in generative AI tech stack.
• Customer focus to understand customer pain points and deliver value add tech solution to customers.
• Good team player.
• Strong communication skills in English, Mandarin, or Cantonese.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in DevOps, ML Ops and LLM Ops.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum software development process.
