Job summary

HSBC in Hong Kong is seeking a Command Center Operator to join the Enterprise Infrastructure team. The role provides first-line monitoring, incident triage, and recovery for IBM Z and IBM i mainframe environments in a 24/7 global operation.

You will rotate across Day, Evening, Night shifts and work with global support teams to detect and resolve incidents, perform console monitoring, and manage job queues in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years in infrastructure operations, command center, or mainframe/iSeries environments.
• Operational knowledge of IBM Z and/or IBM i including console monitoring, job scheduling, and system interaction.
• Willingness to support 7x24 shift operations on rotating schedule.
• Fluent in Cantonese and English for daily team communication and global support coordination.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-line monitoring of the mainframe environment across APAC and global infrastructure.
• Detect, triage, and elevate incidents; decide on Major Incident Management escalation or local recovery actions.
• Rotate through 7x24 shift patterns in a structured multi-day block rotation.
• Execute straightforward recovery actions per documented procedures and follow crisis protocols during critical incidents.
• Perform system console monitoring, respond to alerts, and manage job queues.
