Job summary
A market-leading Defence and Aerospace company in Luton is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to develop manufacturing processes and support cutting-edge projects. The role involves working with CNC machined components and requires experience with Hyper-Mill Cam systems and CAD software. Candidates should have a solid understanding of MRP systems and a collaborative mindset for continuous improvement. Offering a permanent contract with a competitive salary range of £45,000 to £55,000 and a flexible 4-day working week.
Qualifications
- Experience with 5 Axis CNC Machining, including Hyper‑Mill Cam system.
- Solid understanding of MRP systems and experience managing BOMs.
- Proven ability to drive cultural and process change.
Responsibilities
- Develop manufacturing processes for CNC machined components.
- Create detailed process instructions and manufacturing BOMs.
- Maintain close liaison with Industrial and Production Engineering.

As the Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will be working alongside a market‑leading Defence and Aerospace company who are constantly growing and developing. - Develop manufacturing processes
- Work on Medium / Large CNC machined components
- Define sequence of operations, procedures, and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing and material handling
- Provide Basis of Estimates for engineering activities and shop floor operations across a range of technologies and disciplines
- Identify any new tooling & fixturing requirements
- Create Technical Requirement Specifications
- Create detailed process instructions
- Create Manufacturing BOMs / routings to aid ease of manufacture
- Actively participate in Level 1 & 2 Mission Directed Work Team meetings
- Support and contribute to the relevant section of the Technology Roadmap to identify improvements to current manufacturing processes and future requirements
- Assist with the Technical requirements of the relevant section of the Capital plan from definition to acceptance
- Maintain close liaison with Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering and other functions
- Support business process reviews and generate / update relevant documentation
- Experience with 5 Axis CNC Machining, including Hyper‑Mill Cam system
- Experience with CAD software for generating 2D technical drawings
- Solid understanding of MRP systems and experience managing BOMs and routings in SAP (or similar ERP systems)
- Proven ability to drive cultural and process change, improving efficiency and quality
- A collaborative mindset with a passion for continuous improvement
- Ability to work on cutting‑edge projects in a rapidly growing environment
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000
Location: Bedfordshire
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37.5 per week
Working Pattern: 4‑day week (Mon‑Thurs) with flexible working
