Job summary

Briggs Marine Group is seeking a Mooring Operative to join our team based in Sheerness. The role involves mooring ships around the Port of Sheerness, coordinating with vessels, and supporting crew launches as needed.

You will be part of a dedicated team, with responsibilities including handling mooring activities, operating a hand-held VHF, and ensuring safety and adherence to procedures. The position is advertised as ad-hoc zero hours with potential for permanent hours or extra shifts.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions from Team Leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Moor ships at various locations in and around the Port of Sheerness as part of a team.
  • Operate a hand-held VHF for communicating with colleagues and vessels.
  • Crew Pilot launch and workboats as required.
  • Communicate effectively with Team Leaders and colleagues to provide an effective service.
  • Drive a company vehicle for transporting yourself and other colleagues to work sites.
  • Adhere to all company procedures and policies.
  • Carry out any other task deemed appropriate by management

The Role

We are currently looking at adding to a well established team of Mooring Operatives based in Sheerness. The role of a Mooring Operative is to undertake and assist with mooring activities in The Port of Sheerness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a team to moor ships at various locations in and around the Port of Sheerness.
  • Operate a hand-held VHF for communicating with colleagues and vessels.
  • Crew Pilot launch and workboats as required
  • Communicate effectively with Team Leaders and colleagues to provide an effective service.
  • Drive a company vehicle for the purpose of transporting yourself and other colleagues to a work site.
  • Adhere to all company procedures and policies.
  • Carry out any other task deemed appropriate by management
The Candidate:

You will be self motivated and confident in your own ability to train and undertake responsibilities required, this is an ad-hoc zero hours contract so you must be flexible with working hours to assist with the operation when required.
