Job summary

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is seeking a Direct Payment Worker to support a 15-year-old boy in Howden who has Down syndrome and autism and is non-verbal.

You will assist with personal care, meals, transport to activities, and help him engage with the community. A car owner with access to a vehicle is required; DBS checks will be carried out.

Hours are 26 per week during term time and 40 per week in school holidays, with occasional weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting individuals with additional needs is preferred.
• Excellent communication and patience are essential.
• Flexibility to cover varied shifts, including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Assist with personal care and bathing.
• Prepare snacks and meals and assist during eating.
• Support access to community activities and social events.
• Transport the individual to activities and appointments.
• Provide emotional support and help with calming when needed.
