Job summary

A leading educational institution in Greater London is searching for a dedicated Youth Support Teaching Assistant to work with vulnerable young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs. This full-time role involves supporting primary and secondary pupils, particularly those with challenging behaviours. Successful candidates need a strong understanding of child protection and must have experience in dealing with sensitive educational environments. The position is term-time only and requires a commitment Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a PRU or alternative provision.
• Graduate in Sociology, Sports, Criminology or Psychology preferred.
• Experience as a Youth or Community Support Worker.

Responsibilities

• Support students with social, emotional, mental health needs.
• Provide 1:1 support for pupils facing emotional issues.
• Assist students who are behind with their work.

Job Title: Youth Support Teaching Assistant

Full Time - Youth Support Teaching Assistant

We are seeking an experienced youth worker to support a Primary/Secondary Pupil SEMH School.

About the school

• Primary – ACS and SEMH
• Secondary KS3 –KS5 – Challenging behaviour, SEMH, ADHD
• Vulnerable young people, emotional and mental health

They arelooking for at least 2 of the following qualities:

• Previous experience working in a PRU or alternative provision
• Graduate (Sociology, Sports, Criminology or Psychology)
• Experienced Youth or Community Support Worker
• Support workers from mental health facilities or high-risk secure units
• Sports coaches looking to transfer skills in supporting vulnerable young pupils’ education

Role:

• This will be supporting students with social, emotional, mental health needs across either primary or secondary ages providing classroom support.
• You will also be required to provide 1:1 support with any emotional issues, and supporting if pupils are behind with their work

Requirements:

• Experience and understanding of how to support young people with social, emotional, mental health needs
• Flexible in being able to provide 1:1, group support
• Deal with any challenging behaviours or incidents in a calm manner
• Available to start immediately
• Commitment during term time full time Monday to Friday 8.30am – 4.00pm
