Job summary

Suffolk County Council in Brandon is recruiting Youth Support Practitioners for a one-bed children’s home. The role involves caring for a child aged 11-17, building trust, monitoring wellbeing and supporting independence.

The job operates on a 4-week rolling rota, including early/late shifts and sleep-ins. The post includes training opportunities, sleep-in pay on top of salary, and a generous benefits package.

Qualifications

• Willingness to undertake training as required to update knowledge and skills.
• To hold a full and current driving licence or have mobility arrangements.
• Ability to work fixed shifts.

Responsibilities

• Promote development of children and young people.
• Safeguard all children from threats to health and welfare.
• Maintain a safe and sensitive atmosphere meeting children’s needs.
• Develop and maintain relationships with parents, social workers and professionals.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records.
• Deliver effective communications within the Home and with outside agencies.
• Assist in planning and implementing care plans with professionals.
• Administer children’s medication per procedures.
• Attend and participate in team meetings and supervisions.
