Job summary

Suffolk County Council is recruiting Youth Support Practitioners for Stowmarket Children's Home. The post offers a permanent contract, with 37 or 18 hours per week and a salary of £33,973 per annum (pro rata for part time) including an unsociable hours allowance.

Sleep-in duties are part of the role and paid at NMW on top of salary. You will support up to five young people aged 11-17, providing round-the-clock care, build relationships, monitor wellbeing and contribute to care plans.

Qualifications

• Willingness to undertake training to update knowledge and skills.
• Full driving licence with access to personal transport or mobility alternatives.
• Able to work fixed shifts, including sleep-in duties.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children and young people.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day support for vulnerable children.
• Build trusting relationships and monitor wellbeing.
• Develop and maintain records; communicate with parents, social workers and professionals.
• Assist in planning and implementing care plans with other professionals.
• Administer children's medication per procedures.
• Attend team meetings and supervisions.
