Job summary

ROC Northwest is seeking a Children’s Residential Support Worker at Kirkwood in Burnley, to provide care for young people aged 8 to 18. The role involves daily routines, school preparation, activity planning, updating care plans, and ensuring a safe, homely environment with regular sleep-ins.

Applicants should have a UK driving licence, be prepared for 10 sleep-ins per month, and work towards a Level 4 qualification in Children's Residential Care.

Qualifications

• Previous experience is preferred or maybe you have cared for a younger friend or family member
• Ability to work towards a Level 4 qualification in Children's Residential Care
• Manual UK driving licence is essential to use company cars
• Open to ongoing development and learning with support form your manager, your team and the company
• Excellent communication skills both verbally and written, communication is key
• Ability to work day shifts with overnight sleep-ins at the service, you will be away from home for a few days at a time

Responsibilities

• Ensure our children receive the highest level of support and encouragement
• 10 sleep-ins per month
• Support senior staff with timely updates and feedback
• Work as a team, we all support each other
• Promote individuality NOT a "one size fits all" approach
• Complete and update care plans regularly, updating with any additional requirements
• Be part of a welcoming, homely environment by helping with light housekeeping
• Build strong, meaningful relationships and provide emotional support to our young people
• Plan and join fun activities like day trips & activities, holidays away, popcorn & movie nights or creative projects
