Job summary

Oakhill Secure Training Centre in Milton Keynes is seeking a Public Health Practitioner to lead the development and delivery of a comprehensive public health programme for young people in a custodial setting.

You will design and deliver health promotion initiatives, coordinate NHS screenings and vaccinations, and work with education, psychology and safeguarding teams to reduce health inequalities and improve continuity of care. Experience in trauma-informed practice is desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering public health programmes in complex settings.
• Ability to design, implement and evaluate health initiatives.
• Strong collaboration with healthcare, education and safeguarding teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the health strategy and annual delivery plan for the centre.
• Design and deliver health promotion programmes co-produced with young people.
• Coordinate NHS screenings and vaccination catch-ups for the cohort.
• Drive sexual health, relationships, and vaping reduction initiatives.
• Support infection prevention and outbreak preparedness with UKHSA.
• Ensure continuity of care on transfer to adult services.
• Analyse health data, conduct audits and report to senior leaders.
• Embed trauma-informed safeguarding across health and education teams.
