Job summary

Learning to Work in Slough, a youth development charity, is seeking a Key Worker & Youth Facilitator. The role provides practical, personalised support to young people, especially those NEET or at risk, one-to-one and in small groups, and delivers workshops in schools to build employability skills and future progression.

The position requires safeguarding commitment, driving, and DBS checks, with 35 hours per week, based in Slough and regular travel across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and West

Qualifications

  • Experience of supporting young people, including those who are NEET, at risk of NEET and/or have SEND.
  • Ability to build trusted relationships, motivate young people and support their progression.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage a varied workload.
  • Good IT and record-keeping skills.
  • An understanding of education, training, employment and support pathways.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and positive outcomes for young people.
  • A full clean driving licence and daily use of a car.

Responsibilities

  • Build trusted, professional relationships with young people, providing effective one-to-one and small-group support.
  • Identify strengths, aspirations and barriers, supporting young people to develop and progress Individual Action Plans and move towards education, training or employment.
  • Provide practical employability support, including CVs, applications, interview preparation, confidence, communication and workplace skills.
  • Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive workshops, activities and events, adapting delivery and resources to participants’ age, ability and individual needs.
  • Work with schools, employers, families and partner organisations to support young people’s progression, including referrals where appropriate, and undertake Health & Safety visits for extended work experience placements.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records, tracking engagement, progress, outcomes and destinations, and contribute to monitoring, evaluation and funder reporting.
  • Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures, maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and recognising, recording and reporting concerns appropriately.
  • Work collaboratively across Learning to Work, contribute to wider activities as required, and undertake relevant training and professional development, including IOSH Managing Safely training.
