Job summary

Working for Essex is seeking a Targeted Youth Advisor in Chelmsford to help engage at‑risk young people in education and employment. The role involves intensive one‑to‑one mentoring, groupwork, and developing services with partner agencies.

You will support young people facing barriers to education and progression into post‑16 opportunities, working with schools, families and services to deliver high‑quality interventions and opportunities aligned with government guidance on Alternative

Qualifications

  • Educated to IAG Qualification, Dip CG, QCG or NVQ 4 LDDS (minimum NVQ 4).
  • Experience in line management and extensive one-to-one work with young people.
  • Proven ability to progress young people into employment, education and training.
  • Excellent communication and ability to build partnerships with schools, services and agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist young people to overcome barriers to access universal services and learning, providing impartial advice and guidance.
  • Collaborate with schools to remove barriers to education in line with statutory guidance.
  • Manage a defined caseload and maintain accurate records in line with DfE guidance and funders.
  • Develop and deliver intensive support, mentoring and group work with cost‑effective activities.
  • Work with stakeholders to provide wider support and ensure best outcomes for young people.
