Job summary

AKG UK in Buckinghamshire is seeking a participant-centred Mentor to provide one-to-one employment support for young people aged 18 to 24. You will manage a caseload, deliver pre-employment and in-work support, and keep action plans and records up to date.

You will collaborate with Jobcentre Plus, local employers and training providers, travel across the area, and adapt support to individual needs while meeting contract targets and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience of providing one-to-one mentoring or employment support to young people.
• Experience in employability, welfare-to-work or youth employment.
• Strong ability to build trust and motivate participants across multiple channels.
• Knowledge of action planning, barrier removal, work-readiness and job matching.
• Able to manage a caseload, meet deadlines and contract targets.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Build rapport with young people and establish a supportive relationship.
• Manage a caseload and provide structured mentoring from referral to progression.
• Complete initial assessments, identify barriers, and set SMART action plans.
• Deliver confidence-building and work-readiness support (CVs, interviews, sector exploration).
• Match participants to funded opportunities with employers and support recruitment.
• Provide in-work support with regular check-ins and workplace coaching.
• Maintain In-Work Plans and up-to-date records in line with requirements.
• Collaborate with Jobcentre Plus, employers and training providers.
• Travel across the local area to support participants, events and placements.
