Job summary

Nottingham City Council is recruiting for a role delivering youth provision citywide, across centres and community venues. You will work with Children’s Integrated Services and partner organisations to provide engaging activities that support personal and educational development for young people.

The ideal candidate will have Level 3 Youth Work qualifications, experience with at-risk youth, and a willingness to work evenings and weekends to meet service needs. DBS check required.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 3 Qualification in Youth Work or JNC qualification in youth work, or relevant children's service discipline.
• Experience delivering high-quality services for children and young people, including those at risk of anti-social behaviour and youth violence.
• Good knowledge and experience of planning, coordinating and leading youth work sessions in varied settings, some challenging.
• Ability to communicate sensitively and develop respectful, trusting relationships with children, young people and families.
• Ability to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people by advocating and influencing across partnerships.
• Understanding of Safeguarding and Early Help practices.
• Ability and commitment to work evenings and weekends to meet service needs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver youth provision across citywide settings including centre-based, outreach and detached venues.
• Collaborate with Children’s Integrated Services and voluntary/community organisations to coordinate positive activities for young people.
• Create safe, engaging and inclusive opportunities that build confidence and skills for youth across Nottingham City.
• Oversee volunteers and ensure safe use of delivery sites and high-quality, accessible services for diverse communities.

Working Hours: 37 hours per week post - This will include day and evenings work, finishing at 9.30pm

Worker Type: Onsite Worker

Salary: Starting Salary is £32,597 (Level one) rising to £35,412 (Level four) per annum (pro rata for part-time) (Pay award pending)

About the Role

Working citywide you will be responsible for the effective development and delivery of youth provision in a variety of settings, including centre-based, outreach and detached settings. This will include delivery across a range of youth provision and community venues, including Bulwell Riverside Youth Centre, the new Youth Hub and other locations across Nottingham City.

You will work with colleagues across Children's Integrated Services and a range of voluntary and community organisations to ensure the joint co-ordination and delivery of positive activities for young people to ensure that children and young people’s personal, social and educational development is facilitated and supported.

As part of Nottingham's developing youth offer, you will play an important role in creating safe, engaging and inclusive opportunities for young people, helping them to build confidence, develop skills and achieve positive outcomes.

You will oversee volunteers and safe use of delivery sites / provisions and ensure that at all times delivery is planned, promotes the active engagement of children and young people and is of high quality and meets the needs of Nottingham's diverse communities.

You will work flexibly across neighbourhoods and communities, building positive relationships with young people, families and partner organisations to ensure services are responsive to local needs and accessible to young people across the city.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• Minimum of Level 3 Qualification in Youth Work, JNC qualification in youth work, or relevant children's service discipline
