Job summary

Nottingham City Council is recruiting Youth Development Workers to help deliver a wide range of youth provision citywide, including centre-based, outreach and detached work. You will work with partners to ensure young people access positive activities that build confidence and skills.

The role requires a Level 3 Youth Work qualification or equivalent, experience with at-risk youths, safeguarding knowledge, and flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Level 3 Qualification in Youth Work, JNC qualification in youth work, or relevant children’s service discipline.
  • Experience providing high-quality services for children and young people, including those at risk of anti-social behaviour and youth violence
  • Good knowledge and experience of planning, co-ordinating and leading youth work sessions to achieve best outcomes in variety of settings
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and build trusting relationships with children, young people and families
  • Understanding of Safeguarding and Early Help practice in respect to children, young people and families
  • Ability and commitment to work evening and weekends to meet the needs of the service

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver youth provision across centre-based, outreach, and detached settings.
  • Coordinate with Children’s Integrated Services and voluntary/community organisations to deliver positive activities for young people.
  • Create safe, engaging and inclusive opportunities for young people to build confidence and skills.
  • Oversee volunteers and ensure safe use of delivery sites; ensure high-quality delivery.
  • Work flexibly across neighbourhoods and communities to be responsive to local needs.
