Job summary

Horizon Young Persons Service, part of Lincolnshire Recovery Partnership in partnership with Turning Point, is recruiting a Young Persons Recovery Worker/Schools Worker. The role involves delivering Stay Safe Days and drug/alcohol workshops to students in schools and providing harm‑reduction information to families and professionals.

You will manage a small caseload, act as a key worker for young people up to 21, and work with partner agencies to support service users with their goals and safer

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Horizon Young Persons Service, part of Lincolnshire Recovery Partnership. Lincolnshire Recovery Partnership is delivered in partnership between Turning Point, Framework and Double Impact. The partnership combines Turning Point's national experience as an outstanding substance use provider together with Double Impact's specialism in lived experience and recovery and Framework's expertise supporting service users with complex issues. Horizon is the Young Persons service within the Lincolnshire Recovery Partnership, supporting those up to the age of 18 years old, or up to 21 years if there are additional needs for the young person.

As a Young Persons Recovery Worker/Schools Worker we offer a starting salary of £25,870 rising each year in line with our pay progression salary bands, rising to £30,265 per year.

Role Responsibility

The Young Persons Recovery Worker/Schools Worker will work in partnership with Safer Lincolnshire Partnership, specifically the Stay Safe Partnership. The Stay Safe Partnership brings together organisations and voluntary agencies to deliver age‑appropriate workshops.

Within this role you will be delivering 'Stay Safe Days' throughout the academic year; interactive workshops around drugs and alcohol to Key Stage 2- 5 students along with delivering drug and alcohol awareness sessions to professionals, families and other stakeholders. You will provide young people with information and advice around substances, providing factual and up‑to‑date harm reduction information to enable young people to have a better understanding of the risks, how to stay safe, and make the right choices for them.

No day is the same in this role, but an ability to communicate effectively and an ability to manage different tasks and a commitment to Turning Point values are essential. You may have lived experience of substance use/mental health/homelessness (self or a significant other), come with experience supporting people in health and social care or just have a keen interest in supporting this group; if your values are right, we have a role for everyone.

When not delivering in schools you will hold a small caseload of young people working with them on a 1-1 basis. Young Persons Recovery workers within Horizon act as 'key workers' to a caseload of young people up to 21 years old, supporting them to achieve their goals around their substance use and develop plans to achieve these. You will support young people to gain a better understanding of substances, enabling them to make informed decisions along with giving them the knowledge to stay safe. Horizon Young Persons Service offers an outreach service to young people, seeing them wherever best suits them and their needs. The role includes maintaining regular contact with your young people, offering advice, information and psycho-social interventions as well as completing assessments, risk management planning and working closely with our clinical staff and partner agencies. Experience in delivering group sessions would be an advantage, as part of the role will involve delivering drug and alcohol awareness session to young people and professionals.

The Ideal Candidate

You'll have an understanding of drug and alcohol use, and the impacts this has on young people, experience of delivering and designing workshops, excellent collaborative and multi‑agency working, along with the ability to work as part of a team. However, we also recognise that many people have transferrable skills from other backgrounds such as mental health, housing or other health and social care provision. We look for candidates with excellent communication skills and who share our values as an organisation.
