Job description

Young People Support Worker

We have a new role available for a Part-Time Young People Support Worker to work as part of a team delivering a project that forms part of the North Tyneside Pathway. The role is designed to support clients (16-24 year olds) who are at risk of homelessness within North Tyneside.

Position Details
  • Location: North Tyneside
  • Contract: Part-time, permanent
  • Hours: 20 hours a week
  • Salary: £12,872.53 Per Annum plus pension and other benefits
  • Closing Date: Tuesday 3rd June 2025
About the Role

Maritime Court provides supported housing in partnership with Karbon Homes (Landlord) and Depaul (Support Providers). The project supports clients at risk of homelessness, helping them take responsibility for their affairs and assess appropriate move-on housing options.

As a Young People Support Worker, you will work under the guidance of a Service Manager and an Assistant Area Director. You will manage a caseload of clients and share responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of clients, volunteers, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all clients, following safeguarding and emergency procedures.
  • Act as a key worker for a caseload, leading risk and needs assessments and developing SMART, outcomes-based support plans.
  • Provide personalized, flexible support, involving clients in decision-making and activities.
  • Collaborate with external agencies, adhering to data protection protocols.
  • Support clients in accessing education, training, employment, and volunteering opportunities.
  • Maintain a safe environment, prepare accommodation for new clients, and support their transition.
  • Assist with volunteer coordination and promote client involvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records and participate in team rotas, including evenings and weekends.
About You

You should have experience working with young people or those affected by homelessness, and an understanding of their needs, including mental health, substance misuse, or involvement with the care system. Knowledge of risk assessments, safeguarding, and health and safety procedures is essential. Strong literacy, numeracy, IT skills, and a commitment to diversity and professional integrity are required. Ability to maintain professional boundaries and work collaboratively is also important.
