Job summary

YMCA is seeking an energetic childcare assistant who loves children and creating fun activities. You will help deliver a safe, engaging play programme and build excellent rapport with parents, carers and staff.

Ideal candidates hold a Level 2 qualification in early years or childcare and Paediatric First Aid; we may support you to gain these qualifications. Applications require being over 18 and DBS checked.

Qualifications

• Requires Level 2 qualification in early years, play work or childcare provision.
• Paediatric first aid is preferred, though training can be provided.

Job description

You will be an energetic, passionate individual who loves children, loves playing and creating games and activities to give them an enjoyable experience.

You will have previous experience of a similar childcare setting or have other experience working with children which would be transferrable.

You will help in the delivery of exceptional play activities to ensure our programme maintains high standards of play through a fun, safe and positive programme of activities.

You will have brilliant communication skills and you will have an excellent rapport with parents and carers, children, colleagues, and school staff alike.

You’ll champion our Core Values of Caring, Respect, Responsibility and Honesty throughout the play you deliver, and ensure the wellbeing and happiness of children is always put first.

The technical bit - we need someone ideally who holds a Level 2 qualification in early years, play work or childcare provision, with a paediatric first aid qualification, although we could support you gain these qualifications if required.
